HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's basketball team plays host to Ohio Dominican at 7:30 p.m. Thursday as part of the NKU Classic in The Bank of Kentucky Center.
Edinboro (Pa.) takes on Hillsdale at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The two-day event concludes Friday with Edinboro meeting Ohio Dominican at 5:30 p.m., followed by NKU playing Hillsdale.
NKU is 6-2 going into Thursday, while Ohio Dominican is 5-5 overall and has lost five consecutive games. Hillsdale is 5-4 overall, while Edinboro is 8-0 and ranked No. 8 nationally in the Division II poll.
NKU is 1-0 all-time against Ohio Dominican. The Norse are 1-1 all-time against Hillsdale.
TIFFIN RECAP: Casse Mogan and
Jaimie Hamlet finished with 15 points apiece to lead NKU to a 56-44 road win over Tiffin on Dec. 19. Mogan, who upped her career total to 1,216 points, added five rebounds and two steals. She averages 16.6 points per contest going into the Ohio Dominican game.
The Norse held Tiffin to 27.8 percent shooting from the field, including 0-for-12 from 3-point range.
Mogan and Hamlet each scored seven points in the first half as NKU built a 31-24 lead. The Norse shot 52.6 percent in the first half and finished at 41.9 percent for the game.

TOUGH DEFENSE: NKU is allowing just 51.2 points per game, which is No. 2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse have held opponents to 34.3 percent shooting from the field, which is No. 3 in the GLVC.

Jaimie Hamlet is No. 2 in the GLVC in 3-point shooting at 48.6 percent. Hamlet is 17-for-35 from behind the arc this season.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST OHIO DOMINICAN: On Dec. 8, 2007, Jessie Slack netted 14 of her 17 points in the first half as NKU knocked off previously unbeaten Ohio Dominican, 75-63, in Regents Hall. Ohio Dominican entered the game 9-0 and ranked No. 9 in the NAIA Division II national poll.
NKU led by as many as 17 points in the second half and held Ohio Dominican to just 39.3 percent shooting from the field. The Norse finished 9-for-18 from 3-point range and battled the Panthers to a 35-all draw in the rebounding department. Cassie Brannen added 14 points and two blocked shots for NKU. Angela Healy scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
THE LAST TIME AGAINST HILLSDALE: On Dec. 20, 2005, Hillsdale combined tough defense and clutch shooting late in the second half to defeat NKU, 58-52, in the Sunday Challenger Classic in Regents Hall.
The Chargers used their defensive pressure to force 22 turnovers. Hillsdale took a 26-22 lead - fueled by NKU's 14 turnovers - into the locker room at halftime. The Chargers used an 11-2 run to turn a 16-15 deficit with 8:09 left into a 26-18 lead with two minutes remaining in the first half.
Hillsdale held an 11-point advantage (39-28) with 12:46 left in the game on a layup by Nikki Wustman, who finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots. NKU then went on an 11-0 run - sparked by a Karyn Creager 3-point basket off an assist from Katie Butler - to tie the game with 7:34 remaining.
Karmen Graham added five points during the spurt, and Butler capped the run with a 3-pointer to even the score at 39-all. Hillsdale regained the lead on a Wustman layup. The Norse tied the game at 44-all with less than five minutes remaining on a basket and free throw by Angela Healy, but the Chargers responded with back-to-back 3-pointers from Gretchen Rocco and Lauren Fewins to reclaim the lead for good.
