NKU volleyball jumps into national poll at 24th, prepares to meet Charleston (W.Va.)

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University is ranked 24th nationally in the latest AVCA Division II poll, which was released Monday.

NKU jumped into the national poll after posting a 4-0 record in the season-opening Indianapolis Invitational. The Norse received 95 total points to join Great Lakes Valley Conference rivals Lewis (14th) and Indianapolis (20th) in the national rankings.

It marked the first time since Nov. 10, 2008, that NKU has appeared in the national poll.

Four-time defending national champion Concordia-St. Paul is No. 1 in the national poll, followed by Cal State San Bernardino, Tampa and Washburn.

NKU plays its home opener Wednesday night when Charleston (W.Va.) visits Regents Hall at 7 p.m. The Norse are 9-0 all-time against Charleston, including a four-set victory last season in Regents Hall by scores of 25-10, 24-26, 25-17, 25-13.

The Norse begin GLVC action Friday night at 7 p.m. against Saint Joseph's in Regents Hall.
