HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team begins a key weekend Friday night by hosting Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Saint Joseph's in Regents Hall at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, No. 20 Indianapolis visits Regents Hall for a 3 p.m. showdown against the 24th-ranked Norse (5-0). Saturday is also Alumni Day for the NKU volleyball program.

NKU/SJC SERIES: NKU is 37-5 all-time against Saint Joseph's. The Norse have beaten the Pumas 18 consecutive times during the past 10 seasons. Saint Joseph's has not beaten NKU since Nov. 3, 2000, when the Pumas pulled out a five-set decision at Rensselaer, Ind.

A YEAR AGO: Sarah Drennen finished with 12 kills and 15 digs to lead NKU to a 25-18, 25-22, 25-10 victory against Saint Joseph's in Regents Hall.

NKU/UINDY SERIES: NKU owns a 35-12 lead, but Indianapolis has won the last three meetings with the Norse. A year ago, Indianapolis rallied from a 13-10 deficit in the fifth set and scored the final five points – the last four on NKU attacking errors – to post a 15-13 victory in Regents Hall. The Greyhounds won the match by scores of 23-25, 25-13, 25-23, 19-25, 15-13.

STILL UNBEATEN: NKU's Kim Nemcek hit .571 with nine kills Wednesday night during a 25-15, 25-16, 25-10 victory against Charleston (W.Va.). Noelle Peterson added 10 kills and attacked at a .444 clip for NKU. The Norse hit .407 for the match and limited Charleston to a .012 hitting percentage.

Shelby Buschur hammered down eight kills and attacked at a .583 clip for NKU, while teammate Sarah Drennen added nine kills and hit .400.

SEASON-OPENING STREAK: NKU has not started the season with six consecutive wins since 2007.
