ROLLA, Mo. – The Northern Kentucky University women made their final visit to the Bullman Building an upsetting experience for No. 24 Missouri S&T on Thursday night.

NKU held Missouri S&T to 23.1 percent shooting from the field and rolled to a 52-34 victory over the Lady Miners. Casse Mogan scored 18 points as the rampaging Norse won their seventh consecutive game and improved to 11-2 overall, 4-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Missouri S&T, which had jumped into the Division II national poll at No. 24 earlier in the week, dropped to 10-3 overall, 5-1 in the GLVC. NKU now holds a 10-2 lead in the all-time series with Missouri S&T.

Ellen Holton added 13 points for NKU, which shot 43.8 percent from the field. The Norse, who are leaving the GLVC after this season for the Division I Atlantic Sun Conference, won the rebounding battle by a 37-29 margin en route to securing their 799th all-time victory.

NKU is now 799-302 all-time in women's basketball. Norse head coach Nancy Winstel has recorded 626 of those victories.

Tied at 13-all, NKU held Missouri S&T scoreless the final 7:33 of the first half and took a 23-13 lead into the break. Mogan and Holton each netted four points during NKU's half-ending 10-0 run.

The Norse, in fact, closed the half with a 16-2 spurt after trailing 11-7 in the early stages.

NKU led by as many as 20 points in the second half and never let the Lady Miners back in the game. Missouri S&T converted just 21.4 percent of its shots in the second half, including 0-for-5 from 3-point range.

During its current seven-game winning streak, NKU has held the opposition to less than 50 points in each contest. The Norse defense entered Thursday allowing just 47.6 points per game, which is No. 1 nationally in NCAA Division II.

Holton and Sadie Bowling each grabbed eight rebounds, while Tiara Hopper added seven boards. Kelsey Simpson came off the bench and finished with six points, five rebounds and three blocked shots.

It was Missouri S&T's lowest point total since Jan. 23, 2002, during a 61-23 loss at Truman State.

NKU goes for its 800th all-time victory Saturday with a road game at Drury. That series is tied at 5-all, but the Norse are 3-2 all-time in games at Springfield, Mo.
