HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University travels to Lubbock, Texas, on Tuesday night to meet Texas Tech. The game is set for 7 p.m. (EST) at United Spirit Arena.

NKU is 0-5 going into the game, while Texas Tech owns a 4-1 record. This will mark the first meeting between the two programs.

NORSE NOTES (FIVE STARTERS & ONE)

1• NKU dropped a 70-43 decision at No. 4 Ohio State on Saturday. The Norse shot just 27.1 percent from the field and committed 20 turnovers against the Buckeyes.

2• The Norse were 7-for-29 (.241) from 3-point range.

3• NKU has never played a Big 12 basketball team.

4•The Norse did defeat West Virginia in an exhibition game on Nov. 4, 2011, when the Mountaineers were members of the Big East Conference.

5•NKU is looking to collect its first victory as a Division I program.

+1• NKU's last regular-season win against a Division I team came on Jan. 14, 1984, when the Norse upset Tennessee State, 66-64, in Highland Heights, Ky. 

LONE STAR STATE DEBUT: NKU has never played a men's basketball game in the state of Texas. In fact, the Norse have met just two teams from Texas in their entire history.

NKU played then-Texas A&I (now Texas A&M–Kingsville) in 1989 during a regular-season tournament in Erie, Pa., and dropped a 107-91 decision. During the 1997 NCAA Division II national quarterfinals in Louisville, Ky., NKU posted a 79-67 win over Texas A&M-Commerce.

NUMBERS GAME: NKU enters Tuesday night's game shooting 35.9 percent from the field. The Norse are also 30-for-121 (24.8 percent) from 3-point range this season.

Of the Norse's 276 total field-goal attempts through the first five games, 43.8 percent (121) have come from beyond the arc. As a team, NKU has 55 assists and 61 turnovers.

BILLUPS BATTLES BUCKEYES: NKU sophomore post player Jalen Billups finished with 11 points and nine rebounds against Ohio State. He also blocked two shots.

TREY-RIFFIC: NKU senior guard Eshaunte Jones leads the team in scoring (14.4 points per game) and 3-pointers made (14). Jones buried a trio of 3-pointers against Ohio State.

OFF THE BENCH: Norse freshman guard Tyler White netted a career-high five points against Ohio State. White, a native of Lima, Ohio, also collected a steal and added an assist in 13 minutes of playing time.

BIG-TIME ATMOSPHERE: Ohio State was the first nationally ranked Division I team NKU has ever played. It also marked the Norse's television debut on The Big Ten Network.

CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARDS: He is the smallest member of NKU's starting five at 6-foot-1, but Norse senior guard Ethan Faulkner leads the team in rebounding at 5.6 boards per game. Faulkner grabbed seven rebounds against Ohio State.
