KENOSHA, Wis. – Brad Clement's single through the right side in the top of the ninth inning gave the Northern Kentucky University baseball team a 4-3 victory in Game 1 over Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis., on Saturday afternoon.

Wisconsin-Parkside broke a scoreless tie with a three-run sixth inning, but NKU put together a series of singles to tie the game in the seventh.

Zac Asman began the inning for the Norse with a single, and Pat Williams followed with a single to center field.

Kris Hecktor drew a walk to load the bases.

Josh Myers brought Asman home with a single but Williams was thrown out at home when he attempted to score.

Hecktor and Myers both advanced on a wild pitch by Ryan Windt.

A single by Jake Morris allowed Hecktor to score.  An error by second baseman John Brennan allowed Morris to take second on the same play and Myers came home to tie the game.

After a scoreless eighth inning, Alex Rejniak walked Myers to start the ninth inning.

Myers scored the game-winning run on a two-out single through the right side by Brad Clement.

Brett Loeding (6-3) earned the win for NKU after pitching four innings of relief.  He did not allow a run and only surrendered two hits.

The Rangers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the nightcap and cruised to a 7-1 win to salvage the split.

Mike Nicks (5-5) tied Wisconsin-Parkside's single-season record with his eighth complete game in Game 2.  He gave up one unearned run on three hits for the Rangers.

Taylor Nehls finished 2-for-3 with a run, three RBIs and a stolen base to pace the Rangers' offense.

Clement went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Norse.

NKU is now 29-15 overall, 22-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.  Wisconsin-Parkside is 17-26 overall, 10-20 in the GLVC.

The two teams wrap up the four-game series with another doubleheader tomorrow afternoon, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
