Creamer gets 10 kills as NKU falls to Stetson

DeLAND, Fla. – Kaley Melville and Tiffany Creamer had 12 kills each as the Stetson University volleyball team swept Northern Kentucky University, 25-20, 27-25, 25-21, in Atlantic Sun Conference action on Friday night.
 
Madison Akins and Erika White each chipped in nine kills as the Hatters hit at a .330 clip on the match to improve to 15-8 overall and 6-2 in A-Sun action. 
 
Keely Creamer led the Norse (8-13, 3-6 A-Sun) attack with 10 kills while attacking at a .500 pace and adding three blocks.  Kaela Jo Freppon had nine kills and nine digs and Jenna Ruble added eight kills. Taylor Snyder's streak of double-doubles ended at six matches as she added 31 assists and eight digs.
 
The teams battled evenly in each set, with a single run deciding things each way.  It was 17-17 in Set 1 before the Hatters closed the set out on an 8-3 run to take a 25-20 set win.  In Set 2, NKU rallied back from down 12-8 to take 17-15 lead.  The two-point edge for the Norse carried to 23-21 before back-to-back points started a 6-2 rally for Stetson to take the set.
 
It was an 8-8 score in Set 3 before Stetson rolled off a 10-3 run to take the lead for good.  Freppon got five of her nine kills in the set.
 
Anna Prickel added a team-high 11 digs on the match to bring her career total to 1,072.  Prickel needs 60 digs to pass Cammi Welter for 12th all-time at NKU.
 
The Norse return to action on Saturday night when they travel to Fort Myers, Fla., to take on Florida Gulf Coast.  First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
