HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University volleyball head coach Liz Hart has added three student-athletes to the roster for the 2014 season.  Kaitlyn Bowen, Georgia Childers and Drew Boser-Hendricks will join the Norse for the coming fall season.

Bowen will graduate this spring from Rockwood Summit High School in Fenton, Mo.  She is a three-time All-Suburban South Conference honoree at setter, earning first-team honors during her freshman and junior seasons.  Bowen's club team, the Rockwood Thunder, finished the year ranked No. 13 nationally.

"Kaitlyn is familiar with a fast offense," said Hart. "She is a talented setter with experience at a high level and these experiences will help support her transition."

Childers comes to NKU from Holy Cross High School in Covington, Ky.  She led the Indians in kills and blocks in each of her final two seasons and was honored as the team's top server during her junior year.  Childers was a second-team All-Kentucky honoree during her junior year and was named the Division II Player of the Year by the Northern Kentucky Girls Volleyball Coaches Association after her senior season.  She helped the Indians to three appearances in the 9th Region tournament as well.  Childers played her club volleyball with Team Z, which was the No. 30-ranked club in the nation last year.

"Georgia's quickness, agility, and eagerness to learn will offer us another offensive option next year," Hart noted, adding that Childers is the cousin to former NKU All-American Cami Welter.

Boser-Hendricks will complete her prep work this spring at Landstown High School in Virginia Beach, Va. She is a two-time all-Beach District performer and team MVP and was named to the All-Conference 9 first team following her senior year as the team captain for the Eagles.  Boser-Hendricks averaged 13.1 kills and four aces per match during her final season.  She played her club volleyball with Beach Elite 18 Open, helping the club earn a national bid to the USA Volleyball Junior Olympic championships.

"Drew will bring toughness and physicality to the outside hitter position," added Hart. "Because of her advanced experience in that role, she maintains poise and possesses the ability to execute many different shots."

These three young women will join an NKU program that will be entering its third year of transition into Division I.  Last year, the Norse went 12-19 overall and posted a 7-11 mark in Atlantic Sun Conference play.
