CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2015 season, dispatching Thomas More by a 7-0 score on Wednesday night at Five Seasons Sports Club.
NKU (1-2) was firing on all cylinders from the start, using just 30 minutes to sweep doubles play. Two Norse teams failed to drop a game in victory, as
Mate Virag and
Balint Zsidai at No. 1 and
Christopher Angulo and
Nick Lang at No. 3 each swept their opposition, while
Jack Carney and
Adrian Isache at No. 2 took a 6-1 decision from Thomas More's Sergio Pascual and Will Neltner.
Angulo and Lang continued their nights of perfection with 6-0, 6-0 wins in the No. 1 and No. 6 singles flights, respectively, while
Balint Zsidai scored a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sam Lewis at No. 5 to secure NKU's team victory.
Jody Maginley joined in for singles play, defeating Jared Justice, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 2 flight, while Carney got a 6-0, 6-1 win over Neltner at No. 4. Isache closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Austin Justice at No. 3.
The Norse hit the road this weekend to take on their second nationally ranked opponent of the season in No. 27 Kentucky. First serve on Saturday is set for 1 p.m.
