#StartingNine – Tweetable notes about the Norse this week Katelyn Roy posted three multi-hit games during NKU's weekend action in Canton, Georgia. #SeeTheBall The senior first baseman had two hits each in games against Cleveland State, Eastern Illinois and Saint Louis. In total, Roy hit .500 on the weekend with a double, two home runs and three RBIs. She now leads the team with a .346 batting average and a .692 slugging percentage.
The Norse combined for three home runs in a 6-5 loss to Eastern Illinois on Saturday. #LongLiveTheLongBall Roy,
Dani Devlin and
Sydney Ferrante each went deep in the contest, including Ferrante's first career dinger. All told, the Norse hit four home runs over the weekend and now combine for six on the season.
Sydney Ferrante shares the team lead with three doubles on the year. #ScoringPosition The freshman shortstop went 3-for-12 on the weekend, scoring two runs.
Dani Devlin drove in a team-high four runs on the weekend. #Production In Saturday's game against Eastern Illinois, Devlin extended the Norse lead with a 3-run bomb to centerfield and followed that up on Sunday with a sacrifice fly to score
Alex Caudill in NKU's 10-2 loss to Cleveland State. The offensive output increased her team-leading RBI total to six.
Devlin's team-high five-game on-base streak was snapped in NKU's loss to Cleveland State. #SettingTheTable Last weekend, Devlin drew a pair of walks and scored a run against Cleveland State on Saturday, and followed that up with her strong offensive showing against Eastern Illinois before going 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly against Cleveland State in the teams' rematch on Sunday.
The Norse will play nine games over the next six days, all on the road. #RoadWarriors With cold and snowy weather forcing the cancellation of 14 games from NKU's original schedule, the Norse have had to load up on games during Spring Break. In addition to the six midweek games, NKU will close out the trip on Saturday and Sunday with a three-game series at Alabama State.
Tennessee State stands 6-10 on the season after winning three of their last four. #Tigers TSU sees a balanced offensive attack with seven batters hitting .300 or better. Lindsey Burgess paces the power game with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 40 at bats. Taylor Green is 4-3 with an 8.14 ERA as the team's most regular pitcher, while Jasmine Matchen has a pair of saves and is 1-1 on the year in 11 appearances.
UT Martin scored 32 runs over five games in Lubbock, Texas last weekend, going 2-3 along the way. #Skyhawks Carly Gonzalez leads the way offensively, batting .410 with 18 runs scored and 12 more driven in, while Alicia Hansen has a team-best 12 extra-base hits, including five home runs, and has 16 RBIs on the year. In the circle, Elizabeth Wiegand is 4-4 with a 3.33 ERA as the team's top starter, while Brooke Kennedy has picked up a save go to with a 3-1 record and a 1.33 ERA in 10 appearances, including eight in relief.
Alabama A&M has been on a slide as of late, dropping eight of their last nine games. #Bulldogs The Bulldogs picked up a 4-3 win over North Carolina Central before dropping games to Savannah State, Morgan State and Tennessee State in last week's Tiny Laster HBCU Classic in Birmingham, Alabama.
