Meghan Schorman joins Norse softball staff as assistant coach

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse softball head coach Megan Pleskovic announced the hiring of her first assistant coach on Thursday, as Meghan Schorman will join the Norse staff as an assistant coach and pitching coach.

"I am so excited that Meghan is joining the Norse family," said Northern Kentucky Head Coach Megan Pleskovic. "She brings an energetic and relationship-based coaching style that will fit right in with our environment here at NKU. Meghan was impressive throughout the interview process, and her knowledge of the game and experience developing pitching staffs both physically and mentally will be greatly beneficial to our program. I can't wait to see just how far she can go here with Norse softball!"

Schorman comes to the Norse after serving as an assistant softball coach, specializing in pitching development at the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) in 2024. There, she oversaw the development of a pair of All-GLVC pitchers in the 2024 campaign, as the Tritons finished with a 28-27 record and posted a 3.32 team ERA. Schorman has also served as a travel ball coach within the Louisville Slugges Softball Organization, leading player development for competitive travel softball athletes, and has also served as a private pitching instructor.

The Hazelwood, Mo. native starred as a college pitcher at Kentucky from 2019-2021 and at Louisiana from 2022-2023. Schorman threw 95.1 innings to a 2.50 ERA over the 2019 and 2020 campaigns with the Wildcats before making just one appearance in 2021. At UK, she helped the Wildcats reach the NCAA Super Regional in the 2019 season and helped Kentucky post a 20-4 record before the season ended early due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In her two seasons at Louisiana, Schorman accumulated a slew of accolades, including NFCA All-Central Region Second Team honors, All-Sun Belt Second Team honors, and All-Louisiana Honorable Mention in 2023, and All-Louisiana Second Team honors in 2022, while being named to the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll in both seasons and earning a pair of Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week awards. In her junior campaign, she threw 141.1 innings with a 2.03 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP, finishing the season with a 17-6 record. Schorman led the Rajun' Cajuns to a 47-13 record in 2022, helping Louisiana win both Sun Belt Regular Season and Tournament titles, and an NCAA Regional appearance. The 2023 season saw Schorman throw 131.1 innings with a 1.92 ERA in 35 appearances, and Louisiana again claimed both regular season and tournament championships, this time earning a spot in the NCAA Super Regional.

Schorman was a three-year letterman at Marquette Catholic High School, where she was an all-conference pitcher and was named Riverbend AdVantage Softball Player of the Year and was the recipient of Telegraph News Player of the Year honors.
