MTennis closes regular season Wednesday at Xavier

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team will head north across the river on Wednesday when the Norse take on Xavier to close out the 2015 regular season.

The Norse have already secured a No. 6 seed in this weekend's Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, but, with a win tomorrow, they could improve their record to 8-12 overall. The match with Xavier will start at 3 p.m.

NKU looks to continue its winning ways in doubles play after Jack Carney and Nick Lang scored a victory in their No. 3 doubles match against Lipscomb, and the duo of Mate Virag and Jody Maginley defeated the Bisons in a 7-0 tiebreaker in the top-flight match.

ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE: Mate Virag was named to the Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference team for men's tennis on Tuesday. Virag has maintained a 4.0 GPA this year while also playing to a 7-15 record in singles play and a 10-10 record in doubles play.

ABOUT XAVIER: Xavier comes into the match with a 10-6 overall record. In the team's last match against Cleveland State, the Musketeers recorded their sixth loss of the spring. The duo of Micheal Moe and Conner LaFavre won their doubles match, 6-3. Arthur Stefani and Gabriel Chaves Araujo also claimed a 6-2 victory in their doubles match. Jeremy Schneider defeated Jorg Van Der Vloet, 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-2, in his singles match as well.
