HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team plays host to Detroit Mercy on Saturday at NKU Soccer Stadium for the final regular-season home contest of the 2016 slate. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. following the NKU women's team's 4:30 p.m. matchup against the Titans.

SCOUTING THE TITANS: The Titans are 1-1-1 across their last three games and defeated IUPUI at home, 2-0, in its last match on Wednesday. Detroit Mercy has scored 12 goals across its 14 matches for an 0.86 goals per game average. Nine of the Titans' 12 goals have come in the first period. Opponents have scored 23 goals at a rate of 1.64 per game. The duo of Spiro Pliakos and Tommy Bowman have a team-high seven points on three goals and one assist apiece.
Primary goalkeeper Robbie Beckwell is second in the HL in saves with 54, averaging 4.5 per game. Beckwell has started 12 of the squad's 14 matches and owns a 1.62 goals-against average and .730 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY: NKU leads the all-time series, 1-0-1. Last season, the teams battled to a 1-1 draw in double-overtime in Detroit on Sept. 26. Northern Kentucky's
Johannes Jansen scored the game's first goal in the 33rd minute but Detroit would later tie that match in the 71st minute for the draw.
NKU earned a 1-0 victory in the teams' first-ever meeting on Sept. 5, 2014 on neutral territory in Dayton, Ohio.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Freshman goalkeeper
Owen Betz was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after leading the men's soccer team to its second-straight shutout in a 1-0 win over Belmont. The Pass Christian, Mississippi, native registered six saves in the win.
Betz and the Norse have not allowed a goal in the last 203:04 minutes of play. The freshman has made just five collegiate appearances and has recorded three shutouts. He leads the squad in goals-against average (1.13), saves (26), save percentage (0.813), shutouts (three), shots faced (90), and goals allowed (six). With 477:18 minutes played across five matches, the freshman has not yet logged enough minutes to be including in the Horizon League individual standings.
