@NKUNorseWBB drops League opener at Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball dropped its Horizon League opener on Thursday night, falling to League favorite Green Bay, 70-39. With the loss, NKU drops to 4-9 overall and 0-1 in HL play, while the Phoenix advance to 10-2 (1-0 HL).
 
Stat Leaders
  • Senior guard Kelley Wiegman led the Norse in scoring, tying her season best with 13 points. Wiegman sank three triples, the most for her this season.
  • Junior forward Kasey Uetrecht had her first double-digit rebounding performance of the year, pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds while adding four points and a pair of assists.
  • Redshirt-senior forward Rebecca Lyttle also helped lead the Norse on the boards with eight rebounds.
  • Junior guard Mikayla Terry dished out four assists.
 
First Half Summary
  • NKU jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the early stages of the opening quarter thanks to a 3-pointer from freshman guard Hannah Clark and a layup from Lyttle.
  • The Phoenix went on a 15-0 run to close the first quarter, and extended it to a 26-0 run throughout the second quarter.
