MTEN and WTEN travels to Xavier on Friday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's tennis teams travel across the Ohio River on Friday to take on Xavier at 6 p.m. at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club. The match is the first of two this weekend for the women's team, as it turns around to take on Morehead State Saturday on the road.

Both squads are coming off victories at home against Tennessee State. The men cruised to a 6-1 victory to move to 2-1 this season, while the women defeated TSU 5-2 and sit at 3-4 on the year.

On the men's side, lone senior Jody Maginley earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors for his No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles victories against Tennessee State. The singles victory was Maginley's seventh dating back to the fall campaign where he won the flight No. 2 singles championship at the Greater Cincinnati Collegiate Invitational. He sits at 7-2 in singles action and 6-2 in doubles on the year.

In addition to Maginley, Lukas Clemens, Adrian Isache, and Mate Virag have each won both their singles and doubles flights in the last two matches.

On the women's side, Klara Skopac continues to see success at No. 1 singles and has won three of her last four matches. Skopac posted her third-straight doubles victory with
partner Danielle Donahue as they blanked TSU, 6-0, at the No. 1 flight last weekend.

Meanwhile, Sydney Power has won back-to-back matches at No. 2 singles to help lead the Norse.

The men's and women's teams each competed against players from Xavier at the Greater Cincinnati Collegiate Invitational in the fall. Morehead State (0-8), the women's
Saturday opponent, also competed at the fall tournament where Donahue earned singles victories over players from each school.

Xavier's men's team enters the match with a 5-2 record while the women sit at 6-4. Both Musketeer squads are undefeated at home with a 3-0 record.

NKU will take some time off after its weekend matches. The men return to play Sunday, March 13 at Louisville, whose roster features a trio of regionally ranked singles players. The women will take three weeks off before traveling to Dayton on Friday, March 18.
