DAYTON, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team defeated Dayton, 4-2, on Friday night with the help of four singles wins.
The Norse (3-3) ended a streak of eight-straight wins for the Flyers, who dipped to 12-4 on the year.
At No. 1 singles,
Mate Virag defeated UD's Jordan Benjamin, 7-6, 6-3, while NKU's singles flights 2, 3 and 4 closed out three-set victories.
Jody Maginley captured a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles over Carsten Fisher as
Lukas Clemens followed with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3.
Court Clark turned in a 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 victory against Bernardo Sanson at No. 4 to round out the Norse singles victories.
Dayton came away with the doubles point despite a 6-4 victory from
Adrian Isache and Clark.
The Norse return to action for a pair of Horizon League matches beginning on Friday, March 25 at Youngstown State. NKU then takes on Cleveland State on Saturday, March 26.
