ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 3 seed Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team fell to No. 2 Green Bay, 4-0, on Saturday in the semifinal round of the Horizon League Championships at the Varsity Tennis Center on the University of Michigan campus.
With the loss, NKU ends the 2016 season with a 9-7 overall record.
The Norse and Phoenix split the first two doubles matches with the No. 3 duo of Lukas Clemens and Adrian Isache posting a 6-4 victory, leaving the point in the hands of the No. 2 flight.
Green Bay slipped by to win the point in dramatic fashion, with NKU's No. 2 team of Mate Virag and Court Clark dropping a 7-4 tiebreaker.
With the early 1-0 advantage, the Phoenix closed out three victories at the No. 2, 3 and 6 flights to clinch the win, leaving Virag ahead, 6-4, 5-1, in the No. 1 singles match that was abandoned.
