DAYTON, Ohio – Aided by singles victories from the top three singles flights, the Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team defeated Saint Francis (Pa.), 5-2, on Friday at South Regency Tennis Center in Dayton, Ohio.
Northern Kentucky (7-5) claimed the doubles point behind a No. 1 flight victory to open the match. Jody Maginley and Nick Lang defeated Washi Gervais and Dylan Foo-Kune, 6-4.
Lukas Clemens and Adrian Isache followed with a No. 3 doubles victory over the Red Flash, 6-4.
In singles play, Mate Virag came out on top of a super tiebreaker for a 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 (9) win over Gervais at the No. 1 flight.
Maginley defeated Foo-Kune, 6-4, 7-5, at the No. 2 flight for his fourth-straight victory while Lukas Clemens matched Maginley with a four-match win streak as he captured a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Rodrigo Tico at No. 3 singles.
Isache rounded out the singles victories with a No. 6 win over Robin Van Der Heijden, 6-2, 6-2.
The Norse return to action on Sunday when they take on Detroit for Senior Day. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Joyce Yeager Tennis complex.
