HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer team resumes Horizon League play on Saturday as it welcomes Wright State to NKU Soccer Complex for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff. The match will be played at the front end of a doubleheader with the NKU women's team, who takes on Milwaukee at 7:30 p.m.
Both matches will air on ESPN3.

LAST TIME OUT: The Norse are coming off a 2-1 loss to Marshall on Wednesday. The Thundering Herd netted a pair of second-half goals to clinch the victory after NKU's lone marker came on an own goal in the 75th minute. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper
Christian Carey earned his sixth start in goal and picked up four saves before
Dezmond Thompson made his first collegiate appearance in goal. Thompson logged over 17 minutes of play with one save and no goals allowed.
SCOUTING WRIGHT STATE: The Raiders (5-3-0, 1-1-0 Horizon League) sit fourth in the Horizon League and are coming off a pair of victories over Eastern Illinois and League foe UIC. All three of the squad's losses have come in road matches as it is 2-3 on opponents' turf. Wright State is the League leader in goals with 13 across eight matches for an average of 1.63 goals per game. The Raiders are tied with Milwaukee for the League lead in assists with 13.
Peguy Ngatcha is the League leader in points (13) and goals (six), while Jackson Dietrich has four assists across eight games to help the Raiders notch a League-high 39 points as a team.
Defensively, WSU is second in the HL in goals-against average at 1.34, having allowed 11 goals across eight games. Ryan Pignatiello has logged 467:13 minutes in goal and owns a 1.73 goals-against average and .679 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY: Northern Kentucky looks to avenge a 2-0 loss to WSU in the Horizon League quarterfinals at NKU Soccer Stadium last season. The Wright State victory put the all-time series record at 9-3-0 in favor of the Raiders.
The Norse defeated Wright State, 1-0, on a golden goal from
Diego Martinez in double-overtime during the regular season last year. The win was NKU's first-ever victory over a Horizon League team as a member of the conference.
The series history dates back to the first meeting on Sept. 5, 1982 when the Norse defeated WSU, 3-1.
STAT LEADERS: Kobie Qualah leads NKU with four points via a pair of goals. The junior's two goals have been split across Northern Kentucky's two League matches to land him in a four-way tie for the most points in Horizon League games. He boasts a team-high .800 shot on goal percentage as eight of his 10 attempts have been on target.
Anders Mathiesen leads NKU in assists with two, both coming on Qualah's goals. The freshman is tied with
Johannes Jansen,
Calvin Murphy and
Campbell Morris with two points while
Nick Perez and
Bryce Day have added one point apiece.
Defensively, junior
Dylan Carss has logged a team-high 743 minutes on the pitch. Carss, freshman
Wlademir Babaew and
Calvin Murphy are the only Norse to start all eight games this season. Redshirt-sophomore
Christian Carey has started each of the last three games in goal and has totaled 444:49 minutes.
