INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team went on the road Friday evening and earned a 1-1 draw at IUPUI. With this result, the program has clinched a first-round bye in the Horizon League Tournament as the No. 2 seed. The Norse had fallen behind in the 83
rd minute, only to score the equalizer a couple of minutes later.
"It is good to end the regular season with a strong performance against a quality team," said NKU head coach
Bob Sheehan. "We defended very well and created quality scoring chances."
NKU SCORING SUMMARY
- Macy Hamblin tied the match at 1-1 in the 85th minute. Hamblin blasted a shot from the top of the 18-yard box, with Jessica Frey earning an assist on the play.
BETWEEN THE POSTS
- Emily Lohmann faced 22 shots on the evening and made six saves. Her record is now 9-4-2 on the year.
- IUPUI's Sophia Lipka returned to action after missing four matches due to injury. She stopped eight shots on the evening to prevent the Norse from getting another goal. Lipka's overall record stands at 11-3-1.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
- Jessica Frey had the first shot on goal of the match in the 13th minute, but her attempt was saved by IUPUI's Sophia Lipka.
- After the save, Ally Perkins attempted a shot. The ball was blocked by the IUPUI defense and went out of bounds, which resulted in a Norse corner kick.
