HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's men's tennis continues its in-state tour of opponents on Saturday, Jan. 27, heading south to take on Eastern Kentucky. First serve against the Colonels is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
NKU opened up the season against Kentucky last week and fell in a 7-0 decision to the Wildcats. Despite not registering a point, every Norse was able to win at least one game against his opponent.
Andrew Niehaus moved into the No. 1 spot for the Norse and took on No. 34 Ryotaro Matsumura, while freshman
Jorge Rodriguez Agudo made his spring debut in the No. 2 singles match. The match also saw
Felipe Hidalgo and
Anthony Bosch making their collegiate season debuts.
Eastern Kentucky is still searching for its first win of the season, suffering losses to DePaul, Purdue and Kentucky. Like NKU, the Colonels were blanked by the Wildcats and also dropped their match to Purdue without scoring a point. The matchup versus DePaul proved to be the most competitive, with EKU barely falling in a 4-3 decision. Senior Ramon van Flymen tops the Colonels' lineup and was one of three EKU players to secure a point against DePaul. Parth Aggarwal and Gabriel Ruiz also had wins against the Blue Demons.
