Fourth quarter run gives Pepperdine advantage over @NKUNorseWBB

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball wrapped up the nonconference portion of its schedule with a 51-46 setback to Pepperdine. The Norse fall to 1-9 overall while the Waves advance to 6-4.
 
STAT LEADERS
  • Molly Glick led all scorers with a season-high 18 points to go with a pair of assists.
  • Jazmyne Geist also recorded a season best with nine points and pulled down three rebounds.
  • Grace White chipped in eight points, and Emmy Souder recorded eight rebounds.
  • Kennedy Archer dished out four assists, tying her season best.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
  • Both sides went scoreless for nearly the first five minutes of action until Glick drove to the hoop for a bucket to give NKU a 2-0 lead. Glick posted NKU's first six points in the game, and the Norse held Pepperdine to seven points in the first quarter.
  • The Norse were dominant in the paint, with 20 of the team's 23 first-half points coming from down low, while the Waves were held to just six points in the paint.
  • NKU forced Pepperdine into 11 turnovers in the opening half and held the Waves to 30.4 percent from the floor while shooting 40.7 percent from the field.  
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
  • Pepperdine started applying more defensive pressure in the third quarter, causing the Norse to commit 10 turnovers in the stanza as the Waves outscored NKU 12-9.
  • The Waves used a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to take a 10-point advantage, 43-33.
  • The Norse got within three points at the close of the contest following triples from Kennedy Archer and Glick along with a layup from Glick, 49-46.
NORSE NOTES
  • NKU shot 32.0 percent from the field while Pepperdine went 31.9 percent from the floor. The Waves shot 50.0 percent in both the second and fourth quarters.
  • Pepperdine edged NKU by one in the rebound battle, 37-36.
  • The Waves scored 12 points off NKU's 20 turnovers while committing 14 miscues of their own.
  • The Norse outscored the Waves 24-8 in the paint.
