HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's basketball team fell to Illinois State University on Friday evening by a final score of 58-53. The Redbirds improve to 4-4 on the year, while NKU drops to 1-5.
 
STAT LEADERS
  • Kailey Coffey led the Norse in points with 17 points, going 6-of-10 (60 percent) from the floor.  She also had four assists, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
  • Molly Glick tallied 11 points shooting 3-of-6  (50 percent) from behind the arc and 4-of-10 (40 percent) from the floor.
  • Taylor Clos added seven points. 
  • Ally Niece chipped in six points going 3-of-5 (60 percent) from the floor and had three assists.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
  • The Norse trailed 9-15 after the first quarter.
  • Glick opened up scoring in the first quarter with a three-pointer, but ISU followed with a 9-0 run.
  • Glick led the Norse in points with eight points, hitting two triples on three attempts.
  • NKU went 3-for-9 (33.3 percent) from three-point range, while holding ISU scoreless from beyond the arc.
  • The Redbirds took a 25-19 lead into halftime. 
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
  • The Norse outscored ISU in the third quarter 14-11, but the Redbirds held onto their lead going into the fourth quarter, 36-33.
  • NKU shot 6-of-14 (42.9 percent) from the floor and held ISU to 4-of-14 (28.6 percent) in the third quarter.
  • The Norse went on an 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter to cut ISU's lead to three.
  • The fourth quarter was the highest scoring period in the contest, with 22 points coming from ISU and 20 from NKU.
NORSE NOTES
  • The Norse and Redbirds each had 47 shots from the floor. The Redbirds had the edge in field goals made in 22 (46.8 percent) while the Norse made 21 (44.7 percent).
  • NKU went 4-of-14 (28.6 percent) from behind the arc and held ISU to one made triple on 10 tries.
  • ISU outrebounded NKU 33-22 and had a 40-32 advantage in the paint. The Redbirds also converted 14 second chance points while the Norse were unable to score in the statistic.

  • NKU will travel to the University of Louisville on Saturday, Dec. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and the game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
