@NKUNorseTennis kicks off Horizon League play at Wright State

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's men's and women's tennis enter the Horizon League portion of their 2018 schedules this weekend, making the short trip up I-75 to Dayton, Ohio, to take on Wright State. Both matches are scheduled for Saturday, with the women set for first serve at 4 p.m. ET and the men's match to follow at 7 p.m.

Both Norse squads are coming off setbacks to cross-river foe Xavier. Andrew Niehaus secured the lone win for the men in the No. 1 singles spot with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Jack Dykema. Three other matches also featured extended sets with the Musketeers in the No. 2, 3 and 5 matches. The women fell, 7-0, with Margita Sunjic's top-flight singles match against Ahmeir Kyle proving to be the most competitive with a 7-5 opening set.

The Raider men enter the weekend on a five-match winning streak that dates back to a 4-3 win over Xavier on Feb. 25. Michal Kianicka headlines the lineup with a 5-2 record in the No. 1 singles spot, and Fernando Nardelli holds down the No. 2 spot with a 5-3 mark. Wright State's women recently fell to Bowling Green, 4-3, snapping a five-match winning streak of their own. Atop the Raider lineup is Karoline Haller, who has gone 6-11 this year in No. 1 singles action. Hailey Morgan has taken over the No. 2 singles spot and posted the most wins among No. 2 singles players in the League, with nine wins.
