CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's tennis fell 5-2 to Green Bay on Saturday afternoon, dropping to 2-10 overall and 0-4 in Horizon League action.
Match Notables
- The match featured five extended sets in singles play and two in doubles action.
- NKU started things off with taking the doubles point. Andrew Niehaus and Blaine Carr defeated James Ling and Florian Kraenzler in the top flight, 7-5, before Felipe Hidalgo and Jorge Rodriguez Agudo clinched the opening point in the No. 2 spot. The freshman tandem battled back to push the tiebreak and won the set, 7-6(5) after trailing 3-0 in the tiebreak.
- Hidalgo also picked up a point for the Norse in singles action. He took a straight-set victory over Tony Leto in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 7-6(4).
- Chris Murray was the only other Norse to take a set in singles action, winning the second against Miles McDowall in No. 4 singles, 6-1. McDowall had 6-3 wins in both the first and third sets.
- Carr went to tiebreak in both of his sets against Charlie Croxford in No. 3 singles, but ultimately fell to his opponent 7-6(3), 7-6(8).
- Anthony Bosch also had a tight matchup in No. 6 singles, dropping a 7-6(4), 7-5 decision to Ivan Radomirovic.
The Norse take to the court again on Saturday, April 14, and Sunday, April 15. NKU will face Youngstown State and Cleveland State on the road, respectively, with both matches starting at 2 p.m.
