HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team fell to Cincinnati in overtime on Sunday by a final score of 1-0. A goal in the 99
th minute allowed the Bearcats to get the win.

Emily Lohmann was fantastic in goal tonight, and our defensive shape and work ethic was again outstanding. We competed for 98-plus minutes, and we will learn and grow from this match."
BETWEEN THE POSTS
- Lohmann played the whole match in the net for the Norse. She faced 18 shots, and made six saves on the evening.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
- Chloe Mills took the first shot of the match for NKU in the 13th minute. A foul resulted in a free kick for the Norse. Mills headed the ball toward the net, but the UC goalkeeper made the save.
- Emily Soltes fired a shot on goal in the 20th minute from the left side, but the attempt was saved.
- Shawna Zaken followed with a shot on goal in the 21st minute, but UC's goalkeeper made another save.
- In the 22nd minute, the Bearcats' Vanessa DiNardo hit her shot off of the crossbar.
- Lohmann made a big save for NKU in the 29th minute. UC's Emi Carlo received a ball from a cross inside the box and put her attempt on goal. However, Lohmann used her foot to clear the shot away from the net.
- UC's Cassie Wheldon took a free kick in the 34th minute outside of the box. Her shot hit off of the right post and landed out of bounds for a goal kick.
- Lohmann had another save in the 40th minute on a shot from outside the box by UC's Dee Picou.
- The Norse recorded four shots in the half with three coming on goal.
- UC had six shots, including two on goal.
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
- Lohmann stopped a shot by UC's Sophie Gorman in the 50th minute to keep the match level.
- In the 70th minute, UC played a dangerous cross into the box, but Lohmann came off of her line and secured the ball to stop the threat.
- Payton Naylor fired shot in the 74th minute for NKU from outside the box, but her attempt was high of the mark.
- UC's Jill Vetere hit a shot from outside the box in the 83rd minute, but Lohmann punched the ball over the goal for a corner kick.
- Lohmann made another great save in the 85th minute. UC's DiNardo fired a shot from outside the box, and Lohmann punched it away from the goal for a corner kick.
- UC recorded nine shots in the period, but just three were on goal. The Bearcats also had five corner kicks in the half.
OVERTIME SUMMARY
- The Norse had a good scoring chance in the opening minutes of overtime. After a string of passes, Ally Perkins crossed the ball into the box from the left side. The ball found Samantha Duwel, who fired a shot, but the attempt was blocked by the UC defense.
- In the 98th minute, Lohmann tipped a shot by UC's Gorman over the net.
- Vetere scored the game-winning goal for the Bearcats in the 99th minute off of a corner kick by Picou.
MATCH NOTES
- UC had 18 shots in the match, and NKU recorded six.
- The Bearcats also took 10 corner kicks in the contest.
- Each team was whistled for eight fouls.
