CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to Dayton on Saturday evening. The Norse fall to 0-4 overall while the Flyers advance to 2-1.
Match Notables
- Dayton claimed the doubles point with a pair of 6-2 victories in No. 1 and 2 doubles.
- The Norse got wins out of Blaine Carr and Felipe Hidalgo in No. 4 and 6 singles, respectively.
- Carr had a close first set against Lorenzo Rollhauser, coming out on top 7-6(5) before handily downing his opponent in the second set, 6-2.
- Hidalgo dropped the first set against Parker Banning, 6-3, and rallied back to take the second set, 6-4. Hidalgo won the tiebreak, 1-0(6).
- Aleksander Sadal was pitted against the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, Jordan Benjamin, in the top flight and suffered a 6-2, 6-3 setback.
- Nathan Schwartz went to tiebreak against Langford Hills in No. 2 singles, but fell in a tight match, 7-5, 6-7(6), 1-0.
The Norse will take a substantial break before taking to the court on Feb. 15. NKU will face off against Thomas More at the home venue of both squads at Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. ET.
