CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's tennis improved to 2-5 with a 4-1 clinch victory over Eastern Illinois, while the Panthers fall to 6-7.
Match Notables
- Eastern Illinois won its lone point of the match with the opening doubles point. The Panthers won in No. 2 and 3 doubles, while Aleksander Sadal and Jorge Rodriguez Agudo picked up a 6-1 victory over Gage Kingsmith and Luka Knieling in the top flight.
- Blaine Carr tied the contest up with a straight-set victory over Kingsmith in the No. 3 match, 6-4, 6-1.
- The bottom of the lineup got NKU within striking distance, as Chris Murray and Felipe Hidalgo won in No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Murray posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Logan Charbonneau while Hidalgo won against Gertjan De Wilder in matching 6-4 sets.
- Nathan Schwartz sealed the win in No. 2 singles, winning the opening set against Mike Jansen, 6-3, before winning an extended set, 7-6(5).
NKU is back in action tomorrow against Xavier at 4 p.m. ET. The Musketeers are 1-8 this season, with their lone win coming against Chicago State on Jan. 12. However, the team is coming off a 5-2 setback at No. 44 Louisville with wins from Matthew Graft in No. 3 singles and Michael Lee in No. 6 singles.
