Wooster, Niagara on tap for @NKUNorseTennis men

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's men's tennis will hit the road for a pair of matches, first taking on Wooster in a neutral-site competition at Scarborough East Tennis Club in Columbus, Ohio. First serve against the Fighting Scots is set for 1 p.m. on Friday, March 1. The Norse then head to Williamsville, New York, for a 4 p.m. tilt at Niagara on Saturday, March 2.

NKU played three matches in four days last weekend, starting off with a setback to No. 44 Louisville. The Norse bounced back with a 4-1 win over Eastern Illinois before falling at Xavier, 5-2. Nathan Schwartz picked up a pair of wins against EIU and Xavier to lead the Norse out of the No. 2 singles spot.

Wooster holds a 3-2 record this season, most recently falling to Ohio Wesleyan in a 5-4 decision. Austin Hanna holds a 2-2 record atop the lineup, and Joaquin Abos Amo has also moved up to the top flight in one match, but primarily plays in the No. 2 spot. The Fighting Scots have been strong in No. 4 singles, as it is the only spot to not have lost a point this season between four different athletes in the lineup. Wooster's top doubles team has also seen success, with Hannah and Nathan Devereux going 3-0 on the year while Devereaux and Abos Amo have posted a 2-0 mark.

The Purple Eagles are 0-6 on the season and have picked up just three points in total. In the season opener against Roberts Wesleyan, Niagara scored in the bottom of the lineup with Pere Padro and Eduardo Villalpando in No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Bruno Goncalves notched the third match win out of the No. 6 spot in a setback at Edinboro.
