@NKUNorseWBB drops decision at Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE – Northern Kentucky women's basketball dropped its Saturday afternoon matchup at Milwaukee, 59-38. The Norse fall to 7-16 overall and 6-7 in Horizon League play while the Panthers move to 11-12 (6-6 Horizon). 
 
STAT LEADERS
  • Emmy Souder led the Norse in scoring with 10 points, bolstered by a 5-for-6 effort from the free throw line. She also added five rebounds.
  • Kailey Coffey added seven points and seven rebounds.
  • Molly Glick chipped in six points, and Grayson Rose had five points and three rebounds in the contest.
 
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
  • NKU opened up scoring with a bucket from Coffey, but Milwaukee answered back with a 9-0 run to establish its lead. The Norse closed the gap to three points off back-to-back field goals from Rose, 13-10, before the Panthers ended the first quarter with a 15-10 edge.
  • The Norse were unable to convert a field goal in the second quarter as Milwaukee outscored the Norse 16-2 in the frame, leading 31-12 at the half.
 
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
  • NKU's field goal drought continued until the 2:35 mark in the third quarter when Coffey converted a move in the post. However, Milwaukee sent the Norse to the line six times in the frame, resulting in eight NKU free throws.
  • The Norse offense found some rhythm in the fourth, shooting 35.7 percent. Souder contributed seven of NKU's 16 points in the stanza as the Norse outscored the Panthers by four.
 
NORSE NOTES
  • Milwaukee moves to 5-3 in the all-time series against the Norse.
  • The Panthers shot 46.2 percent from the field, while NKU converted on 21.3 percent of its shot attempts.
  • Milwaukee also had the edge in rebounding, 42-29.
  • The Norse committed just 12 turnovers while forcing the Panthers into 15 miscues. NKU scored 12 points off turnovers compared to eight for the Panthers.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Norse remain on the road for their next contest, but take on a regional opponent when they head to Wright State on Saturday, Feb. 16. The Raiders are currently tied for first in the Horizon League after suffering a loss at Green Bay this afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
