@NKUNorseBSB sweeps YSU with 2-1 win on Sunday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team picked up a series sweep against Youngstown State, winning the final game of the series on Sunday by a final score of 2-1. NKU improves to 4-12 overall and 3-0 in the Horizon League. YSU falls to 1-17 on the season and 0-3 in league play.
 
AT THE PLATE  
ON THE MOUND
  • Kyle Arganbright got the start and went five innings. He allowed three hits, three walks and an unearned run. Arganbright also struck out four batters.
  • Noah Richardson pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just two walks while striking out four hitters.
  • Cameron Ross (W, 1-2) got the win on the mound for pitching two scoreless innings. He gave up just two walks and struck out a batter.
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • YSU went ahead 1-0 in the fifth inning. Trevor Wiersma reached on a fielding error, and Phillip Glasser scored on the play.
  • NKU took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth. Luty led off the inning with a home run over the left field wall. Later in the frame with the bases loaded, Griffin Doersching was hit by a pitch to allow Marion to cross the plate.
 
 
GAME NOTES
  • NKU had a 4-3 advantage in hits.
  • The Norse committed two errors, while YSU had one.
  • Youngstown State stranded 12 base runners, while NKU left six on base.
  • Luty's homer was his first of the season.
