WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Northern Kentucky men's tennis picked up its second win of the weekend, downing Niagara on the road in a 6-1 decision. The Norse improve to 4-6 while the Purple Eagles fall to 0-7.
Match Notables
- NKU won all three doubles sets to take the opening point. Aleksander Sadal and Jorge Rodriguez Agudo finished first with a 6-2 win over Eduardo Villalpando and Darrel Harxhi in the top flight. Blaine Carr and Nathan Schwartz clinched the opening point in the No. 2 spot with a 6-4 victory over Brent Boleslav and Lukas Wenninger. The Norse also added a win in No. 3 doubles with Nick Elleman and Anthony Bosch coming out on top against Bruno Goncalves and Pere Padro Parra, 7-6.
- Rodriguez Agudo put the Norse up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Goncalves in No. 4 singles.
- Chris Murray was the next to finish, winning in matching 6-1 sets over Wenninger in the No. 6 spot.
- Carr clinched the match for the Norse with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Boleslav in No. 3 singles.
- Nathan Schwartz and Felipe Hidalgo also added singles wins. Schwartz took down Finn Adams in 6-3 sets in No. 2 singles, while Hidalgo claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win over Pere Padro Parra.
NKU will take three weeks off before heading into the Horizon League slate. The Norse host Wright State in the first match of the league season, welcoming the Raiders at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23.
