Milwaukee slips past @NKUNorseBSB on Saturday, 5-3

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Milwaukee on Saturday by a final score of 5-3. NKU drops to 4-15 overall and 3-2 in the Horizon League. Milwaukee improves to 11-8 on the year and 3-2 in league play.

ON THE MOUND
  • Kyle Service (L, 0-3) got the start and pitched 6.2 innings. He allowed four runs on six hits and a walk. He also struck out four batters.
  • Kaleb Meeks pitched the final 2.1 innings. He gave up an unearned run, while striking out four batters.
 
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • Milwaukee took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on Tyler Bordner's solo home run.
  • Joe Vyskocil put the Panthers ahead 2-0 in the fourth with a solo home run.
  • Haueter hit a solo home run in the bottom half of the fourth to make the score 2-1.
  • The Panthers took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth on Matt Quartel's solo home run.
  • Vyskocil hit his second home run of the game in the sixth inning to put Milwaukee up 4-1.
  • NKU got a run back in the bottom of the seventh. Fisher started the inning with a single, and he moved to third on a double by Wakeham. Fisher later scored in the inning on an RBI groundout by Collin Hohman.

  • The Norse scored in the ninth inning to cut the lead to two at 5-3. Bacon hit a triple to right field, and he scored on a balk by the Milwaukee pitcher.

  • Milwaukee had an 8-5 advantage in hits.
  • NKU committed one error, while the Panthers had none.
  • The Norse stranded six runners, and Milwaukee left four on base.
  • Haueter's home run was his first of the season, and Bacon now has two triples on the year.
