HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Matt Rea has been hired as director of basketball operations Northern Kentucky head men's basketball coach Darrin Horn announces. Rea rounds out Horn's staff at NKU, joining assistant coaches David Harris, Eric Haut and Simon McCormack, along with video coordinator Joey Kizel.

Rea is no stranger to both higher education and the sports world. He's spent the last four years serving as an admissions counselor for 2U, Inc., including two years at American University and two at the University of Southern California.
 
In addition to working as an admissions counselor, Rea was honing his broadcasting skills. Beginning in September 2015, Rea spent three years as a broadcaster for football and both men's and women's basketball at Catholic University. During that time, Rea announced several NCAA men's basketball tournament games. He then transitioned to Princeton, where he provided football and softball commentary.
 
Rea also held the roles of Head of Media, Assistant Football Coach and Academic Coordinator at East Coast Prep in 2014. He earned a bachelor of arts in political science from Middlebury College, where he spent four seasons as a running back for the Panthers.
