@NKUNorseMBB in Saint Thomas: Day 1

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. –  A cool breeze coming off the Atlantic Ocean greeted the Northern Kentucky University men's basketball team as they walked down the stairs from the Boeing 757 that just completed the nearly 2,200-mile day of travel. Smiles and a palpable energy filled the team as the student-athletes got their first glimpse at the beauty of Saint Thomas.

Once the team gathered its luggage, a trip to the Tap & Still ensued where the players could refuel with lunch following the travel. The airy environment of the restaurant provided a relaxing space for the players to unwind while eating.

From there, the Norse checked into their hotel and prepped for practice.

Based on the energy surrounding NKU's one-hour practice at the University of the Virgin Islands, it'd be difficult to tell that the team had an early wake-up call and lengthy day of travel. Darrin Horn and the rest of the coaching staff led a spirited workout with the players getting acclimated to the facility.

The night ended with burgers, wings and salads at another open-air venue, The Smoking Rooster, before retiring to the hotel.

Wednesday's schedule is set to feature a tropical treasure hunt and the first of three games of the trip, a showdown against the US Virgin Islands National Team at 7:30 p.m.
