HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team fell to in-state rival Kentucky, 1-0, on Thursday night at Bell Soccer Complex.
"We have put together a rigorous nonconference schedule, said head coach
Bob Sheehan. "A lot of young players were on the field tonight and competed and we had a couple of good opportunities to tie the match. Our goal is that these types of matches will serve us well moving forward."

- Mimi Stines faced 18 shots, made six saves and allowed a single goal.
MATCH SUMMARY
- In the first 15 minutes, NKU had shots from Ally Perkins and Kailey Ivins, as well as a corner kick opportunity in an attempt to score the first goal of the evening.
- The Wildcats' offense fought back in the ensuing minutes. In the 30th minute, Kentucky's Jordyn Rhodes found Hannah Richardson, who juked the ball around Chloe Mills and netted the only goal of the match.
- Although it didn't show as well on the box score, NKU's offense did have more bite to it in the last five minutes of the first half, setting up three corners.
- In the 54th minute, the Norse had their best opportunity of the night when Lindsey Meyer took control of the ball deep in the final third and swung a pass back to Ally Perkins, whose shot just barely grazed above the goal posts.
- Kiley Keehan had the only other Norse shot on the night. Coming off a corner kick, the sophomore headed the ball high over the net.
NORSE NOTES
- Although NKU is 2-3 on the season, the Norse have faced two defending conference champions and a Power 5 conference school, going 2-1 in those games.
- Mimi Stines has had at least six saves a game for a season total of 34. Her save percentage currently sits at .872.
