Gleason signs four commits in 2021 class for @NKUNorseSB

HIGHLAND HEIGHTSKy. – Four standout high school student-athletes have signed their National Letters of Intent to join the Northern Kentucky softball team announces head coach Kathryn Gleason. The Norse welcome Megan Kincer, Charlotte "Charly" Koehler, Olivia Pastin and Trinity Robertson in the fall 2021.

"We are very excited to welcome these four talented student-athletes to our NKU softball program," said Gleason. "They are high achievers on the field and in the classroom. They will bring versatility, power and speed to our lineup. We are happy to have them join the NKU softball family today."

Megan Kincer

·       A native of Sunman, Indiana, Kincer joins the Norse as an outfielder from East Central High School

·       Kincer hit .360 as a freshman and .361 as a sophomore, scoring 31 times across the two seasons

·       The two-time all-conference selection has shown a knack for driving in runs, tallying 18 and 22 RBI in her freshman and sophomore campaigns, respectively

·       Megan's twin sister, Jessie, will also sign an NLI to play softball at Bucknell University 

·       She currently competes for the Cincy Doom Travel Ball Organization, coached by Tim Gregory 

Gleason on Kincer

"Megan will provide depth to our outfield in the Fall of 2021.  She has played a very competitive travel ball schedule with the Indiana Magic Gold organization and now with the Cincy Doom.  She is a competitor who has gap-to-gap power and speed at the plate. "

Charlotte "Charly" Koehler

·       The 5-foot-7 infielder comes to NKU from Brazil, Indiana, where she competes for Clay City High School

·       Kincer is a two-time SWIAC All-Conference and two-time All-State honoree, earning second-team as a freshman and first-team as a sophomore

·       After averaging .443 with 23 RBI and 20 runs scored in her freshman campaign, Kincer improved to a .479 hitting percentage with 27 RBI and 22 runs scored at the plate 

·       She currently competes for the Indiana Shockwaves Rayman Travel Ball Organization

Gleason on Koehler

"Charly is versatile enough and has experience playing both middle infield positions. She has power at the plate, which will make an immediate impact on our offensive lineup. She has competed at a high level with Jeanne Rayman's Shockwaves, so we look forward to adding her competitiveness, energy and athleticism to our program." 

 

Olivia Pastin

·       Hailing from nearby Crestwood, Kentucky, and Assumption High School, Pastin is an all-7th region honoree and three-time First Team All-State Academic Team member

·       During her freshman season, she hit .391 with 22 runs, 14 RBI and eight doubles

·       Those numbers ballooned to .479, 38 runs, 40 RBIO and 15 doubles, while adding power through four home runs

·       She currently competes for the Indiana Fusion Elite Travel Ball Organization 

Gleason on Pastin

"We are very excited to have Olivia and her family join the Norse Softball family and keep her close to home. Olivia provides us a left-handed power bat in the middle of our lineup. She is athletic and will also provide versatility defensively, with her ability to play the outfield, as well as providing depth behind the plate."

Trinity Robertson

·       Robertson is a do-it-all utility player that comes to NKU from Edgewood High School in Ellettsville, Indiana

·       At the plate her freshman year, she hit .463 with 12 runs and 29 RBI, while improving to a .481 average with 14 runs and 35 RBI as sophomore

·       In the circle, Robinson tossed 134.2 innings with a 3.1 ERA and 90 strikeouts en route to a 19-7 record

·       Robinson improved to a 10-3 mark with a 3.6 ERA and 48 K's in 69.2 innings on the mound

·       She is a two time all-conference first team and two-time first team all-area performer, who was also named team MVP as a freshman

·       She currently competes for the Indiana Gators Kissee Travel Ball Organization 

Gleason on Robertson

"Trinity is the ultimate utility player. She will bring depth at numerous spots, as she can play both corner positions, as well as lead on the mound and behind the plate.  She is strong, athletic, and has the ability to drive in runs and be an RBI leader for us."
