• NKU is in the second year of the
Darrin Horn era, as the Kentucky native is just the sixth head coach in the 50th season of the program. In his 11th year as a head coach, Horn has a career record of 196-120.
• NKU has been the most dominant team in the Horizon League over the last four seasons, amassing a 61-20 (.753) mark against league foes while winning five of the combined eight league championships (two regular season and three tournament).
• Since the start of the 2016-17 season, NKU is a combined 97-39 (.713), has won the Horizon League regular season twice ('18, '19) and league tourney thrice ('17, '19, '20), and has qualified for either the NCAA Tournament ('17, '19, '20) or NIT ('18) every year. Adrian Nelson opened the season with back-to-back double-doubles, becoming the first Norse to do so since Drew McDonald had two on Jan. 11 and 17, 2019. Nelson had 10 points and 19 boards against Ball State and followed with 10 points and 14 caroms versus TTU.

For the second-straight game, five Norse registered double figures in the scoring column. Langdon led the way with 15 points, while Faulkner impacted the game in every way imaginable with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and career-high six steals. Nelson registered his second-straight double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. And, freshmen Robinson (14 points, four rebounds) and Böhm (12 points, four rebounds) also reached double digits. The Norse forced 20 Golden Eagle turnovers, which they turned into a 19-5 advantage in points off miscues. NKU continues to value the ball, committing just eight turnovers in the game.
Scouting Chattanooga
Like Northern Kentucky, Chattanooga sits at 2-0, dispatching DII-member Lander (99-63) and Tennessee Tech (62-54). Malachi Smith is averaging a double-double with team highs in scoring (16.5) and rebounds (12.0). Preseason All-SoCon honoree David Jean-Baptiste is averaging 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Stefan Kenic, a foe familiar to the Norse who transferred from Cleveland State for his senior season, is averaging 11.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. The Mocs have been stingy on the defensive end so far, limiting opponents to 58.5 points and forcing 18.5 turnovers per game.
Series Stuff
The all-time series sits at 8-4 in favor of Chattanooga, although since Northern Kentucky's transition to status as an NCAA DI program, the series is knotted at one apiece, with the home team holding serve. NKU won 87-71 in the 2013-14 campaign, but fell 93-81 in the 2014-15 season.
