CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Northern Kentucky men's tennis edged Eastern Illinois on Friday afternoon, moving to 2-4 on the season while the Panthers dropped to 7-5.
Match Notables
- Eastern Illinois used a pair of 6-2 decisions on Courts 2 and 3 to secure the doubles point. In the top flight, Emilien Burnel and Nathan Schwartz defeated Daniel Hernandez and Pau Riera, 6-2.
- The Norse used wins in No. 5, 4 and 2 singles to take a 3-1 advantage in the match.
- Brandon Ponomarew was the first to finish single play, blanking Juan Carlos Garrido in both sets of the No. 5 matchup.
- Jorge Rodriguez Agudo then defeated Logan Chambonneau on Court 4, 6-2, 6-1.
- Burnel put NKU within striking distance after defeating Hernandez in the second flight, 6-3, 6-2.
