CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Northern Kentucky men's tennis won its third-straight match after defeating Chicago State on Saturday morning, 6-1. The Norse improve to 3-4 with the victory.
Match Notables
- Northern Kentucky won the opening point with wins in No. 2 and 3 doubles. On Court 3, Nick Elleman and Andrew Niehaus defeated Jakub Zamorski and Javier Sanchez Pradillo, 6-1, before Emilien Burnel and Brandon Ponomarew clinched the point, 6-3 over Cody Wurzelbacher and Pedja Kolaric.
- Ponomarew was the first to finish singles play, downing Zamorski in the No. 5 match, 6-2, 6-1.
- Jorge Rodriguez Agudo followed up with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Kolaric in No. 4 singles, and Felipe Hidalgo clinched the match for the Norse out of the No. 6 spot with a 6-3, 6-2 win versus Wurzelbacher.
- Niehaus and Nathan Schwartz also added singles victories. Niehaus took down Sanchez Pradilloin No. 3 singles, 7-6. 6-3, while Schwartz defeated Jakov Suler in the top match,6-3, 7-6(5).
The Norse continue their road swing next weekend against regional foe, Dayton. First serve against the Flyers is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22.
