Horizon League men’s basketball bracket set, No. 2 Norse await opponent

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – With the final weekend of regular-season basketball in the books, the Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship bracket has been set. Northern Kentucky (21-9 overall, 13-5 Horizon League), which locked up a top-2 seed over a week ago, finished second in the regular-season standings and earned the No. 2 seed, which brings a coveted double-bye to the semifinals.

As the No. 2 seed in the tournament, the Norse will play at 9:30 p.m., on Monday, March 9, at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis. NKU awaits the highest-ranked seed that emerges from the first and quarterfinal rounds. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

The No. 1 seed went to Wright State (25-6, 15-3) after the Raiders clinched the regular-season title on Friday night. WSU also earns a double-bye and will face the lowest-remaining seed to reach the semifinals.

Green Bay finished 11-5 in league play and in third-place outright, earning a bye into the quarterfinals. The Phoenix face the lowest-ranked team to advance following the first round games on Tuesday, March 3.

No. 4 UIC (15-16, 10-8) hosts No. 9 IUPUI (7-24, 3-15) in one of three games that will be played as part of the first round. No. 5 Youngstown State (17-14, 10-8) plays No. 8 Milwaukee (12-18, 7-11) and No. 6 Oakland (13-8, 8-10) meets No. 7 Cleveland State (11-20, 7-11).
