ORLANDO, Fla. – Northern Kentucky men's tennis won its third-straight match with a 6-1 showing against Fairfield on Tuesday afternoon. The Norse move to 6-5 on the season while the Stags drop to 5-5.
Match Notables
- The Norse started the match with a doubles-point win thanks to the No. 1 and 3 courts. Nathan Schwartz and Emilien Burnel won the first doubles matchup at the top of the lineup, 6-1 over Kaya Gore and Jonathan Olive-Blanco, before Andrew Niehaus and Jorge Rodriguez Agudo clinched the opening point with a 6-4 victory over Stefan Mitrovic and William Townsend Ford.
- Rodriguez Agudo was the first to finish singles play as he upended Olive-Blanco in the No. 4 match, 6-2, 6-3.
- Niehaus moved up to the No. 2 singles spot and secured a straight-set win over Tyler Shibles, 6-2, 6-4.
- Burnel provided the match-clinching point as he defeated Lewis Edwards in the No. 3 singles match, 6-1, 6-4.
- NKU then added a win in the No. 5 match with Brandon Ponomarew defeating Griffin Schlesinger, 4-6, 6-1, 1-0(8).
- Schwartz provided the sixth point for the Norse with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Gore in the tpp flight.
- Niehaus, Ponomarew, Rodriguez Agudo and Schwartz are now all on a three-match winning streak.
