ORLANDO, Fla. – Northern Kentucky men's tennis dropped a 7-0 decision to Creighton on Wednesday morning. The loss drops the Norse to 6-6 on the season while Creighton advances to 6-5.
Match Notables
- The Bluejays opened up the match with wins on courts 2 and 3 to take the doubles point.
- Creighton then clinched the match after posting wins in No. 6, 2 and 4 singles.
- In No. 5 singles, Brandon Ponomarew won the opening set against Mac Mease, 6-4, but dropped the next two, 6-2, 1-0(4).
- Emilien Burnel had a tight matchup with Jose Oscar Diaz in No. 3 singles, falling 6-4 in the first before going an extended second set, 7-5.
- Nathan Schwartz also went three against Nick Campbell in No. 1 singles, dropping a close opening set, 7-6, before pushing the pro set with a 6-3 second-set win. Campbell won the deciding set to complete Creighton's sweep.
The Norse return home with a quick turnaround, hosting Saint Francis (Pa.) on Friday March 13. First serve is set for 7 p.m. ET from Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
