HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University men's basketball continues to shine both on the court and in the classroom. After winning its fifth Horizon League Championship in the last four years, which includes two regular-season crowns and three tournament titles, NKU collected the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for the third year in a row. In addition, Dantez Walton, Paul Djoko and Tre Cobbs were named to the Honors Court for their individual efforts in the classroom.

As a team, the Norse posted a 3.12 team GPA in the fall and followed with an impressive 3.41 mark in the spring, averaging 3.27 for the academic year.

Walton added yet another accolade to his distinguished career as a Norse. Not only is this his second-straight NABC Honors court distinction, but Walton was also named the Horizon League Winter Scholar Athlete of the Season after earning back-to-back nods on the league's all-academic team. Walton was an All-Horizon League Third Team member, averaging team-highs in scoring (16.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg). He graduated this spring with a 3.68 GPA as an Organizational Leadership major.

Cobbs also collects his second nod to the Honors Court, while Djoko earned his first recognition. Cobbs graduated in the spring as well with a degree in Organizational Leadership and a 3.47 GPA. Djoko, a rising redshirt junior for the Norse, boasts a 3.35 GPA in Computer Information Technology.

Djoko played in 28 games for the Norse and was instrumental in the championship game of the 2020 Horizon League Tournament, where he poured in a career-high nine points to help the Norse to the title. Cobbs appeared in 14 games on the season.

Northern Kentucky amassed a 23-9 record on the year, its fourth-straight 20-win campaign.
