HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. – Northern Kentucky softball head coach
Kathryn Gleason announced a new addition to the coaching staff for this coming season.
Marina Demore, who is a former student-athlete for Oregon State from 2009-13, is welcomed to NKU as the pitching coach.
"I want to thank NKU and Coach
Kathryn Gleason for giving me this great opportunity," said Demore. "I am looking forward to the upcoming season and contributing to the development of the NKU softball team. I believe in the goals and team culture that Coach Gleason has established for the program and am excited to become a part of the NKU family."
"We are thrilled to welcome Marina to our NKU softball coaching staff," said Gleason. "Her experience as a player, both collegiately and internationally, will be a tremendous asset for our student-athletes to learn and grow from her each and every day. She has assisted Coach Garza in growing the programs at both UC-Riverside and Fresno State. We are excited in welcoming her to our program and having her help us continue building a championship program."
A Native of Vancouver, British Colombia, Demore joins the Norse coaching staff after serving as a graduate student manager for Fresno State from 2018-20. While in this position, she focused on day-to-day operations, travel logistics, and being a mentor to the Bulldog student-athletes.
During her playing days, Demore competed at an elite level. As a student-athlete, she helped lead Oregon State to back-to-back NCAA Regionals in 2012 and 2013. She also participated in the 2013 Pan American Games, where she finished in second place with Team Canada.
Demore earned her Bachelor's degree in biology in 2014 at Oregon State, and continued to pursue a Master's degree in kinesiology while at Fresno State.
