HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky's women's basketball team put up a hard-fought battle against Kent State but fell short in the closing minutes of their home opening matchup, 80-73.
STATS LEADERS

Lindsey Duvall led the Norse in the scoring column with 27 points and went 4-of-7 (57 percent) from behind-the-arc.

Grayson Rose was second in the Norse's scoring column with 16 points and went 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) from the floor. Rose also had two assists and four blocks.

Emmy Souder led the team in rebounds with a total of seven. Souder also went 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) from the field goal line.

The Norse had a third double-figure scorer in Ivy Turner, who contributed 13 points along with three rebounds and three assists.
TURNING POINT
FIRST HALF SUMMARY

Duvall helped the Norse with a jumper that spun around the rim and rolled in as time expired to pull NKU within three, 14-11.

Back-to-back buckets by Igo and Duvall to start the second frame regained the lead for NKU.

Northern Kentucky extended the run to 18-5 and took a 29-21 lead into the media timeout.

There was just one second remaining in quarter No. 2 when Rose delivered an intense three-pointer with an assist from Igo. The Norse regained their lead, 35-33.
SECOND HALF SUMMARY

Less than a minute into quarter No. 3, Rose assisted Duvall with a well-polished 3-pointer, 38-36.

Turner battled at the rim and tied up the scoreboard securing a lay-in at the 6:03 mark, 42-42.

Turner broke the 6-0 scoreless run with a layup and by completed the old-fashioned t3-point play with a free throw shortly after.

Duvall nailed her back-to-back free throws with just 1:15 left in the third.

Then in the fourth period, Duvall made her fourth splash from behind-the-arc. She was assisted by Mitchell-Steen at the 5:25 minute mark. Two minutes later, Duvall was still on fire and hit another 3-pointer.

Rose capped the 14-3 Norse run that erased a 60-51 deficit with her three, giving NKU its one-point lead with three minutes to go.

KSU closed out the game with its run late to seal the game.
GAME NOTES

Northern Kentucky shot 45 percent (28-of-62) from the floor and 46 percent (10-of-22) from behind-the-arc, while Kent State shot 51 percent (27-of-53) and 50 percent (6-of-12), respectively.

After scoring in double figures in all 19 games last season, Duvall extended her streak to 20 games with tonight's 27-point performance. It is her sixth 20-point performance as a Norse.

With six assists tonight, Igo matched her career high which was set in the final game of the 2020-21 season at Wright State.

Courtesy of her four blocks tonight, Rose now has a total of 120 blocks in her career. She currently ranks fourth in NKU's all-time list of career blocks.
