HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's basketball team notched the first win of the season against EKU, 76-61. NKU improves to 1-1 overall and EKU drops to 1-1 as well.
STATS LEADERS
· Lindsey Duvall led the Norse in the scoring column with a total of 20 points. She went 8-of-16 (50 percent) from the field.
· Carissa Garcia finished in double-figures in the scoring column with a total of 16 points. She went 4-of-7 (57 percent) from beyond the arc.
· Ivy Turner had a total of six assists and three steals. She went 2-2 in free throws.
· Khamari Mitchell-Steen led the team in usage percentage totaling 42.19 percent, she also went 5-of-8 (63 percent) in free throws.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
· Just 10 seconds into the first period, Duvall came in hot, knocking down a three for the Norse.
· Turner assisted
Grayson Rose with her first 3-pointer of the game
at the 8:25 minute mark. 25 seconds later, Turner drove to the net for the layup. Norse continued their lead, 10-6.
· The Norse went on a 9-0 scoring run for a total of three minutes and 31 seconds, that started with a free throw by Mitchell-Steen. Both
Emmy Souder and Turner contributed to the run.
· Mitchell-Steen started off quarter No. 2 with the completion of two free throws. Less than a minute later, Mitchell-Steen finished off a layup, with the assist by Duvall. The Norse still led, 28-18.
· Kennedy Igo dished to Duvall from behind-the-arc. Shortly followed by Garcia's first triple of the game. Both plays catapulted the Norse's 6-0 scoring run.
· Going into the break, the Norse held a 44-23 advantage over EKU.
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
· Starting off the third Souder achieved a layup with an assist from Duvall. One minute later, Duvall topped off a lay-in to hold the 48-29.
· Turner perfected both of her free throws at the 4:51 minute mark. She followed it up with a steal from EKU.
· Duvall fought her way up to the net, nailing a layup. 10 seconds later, Duvall made a splash from beyond the arc with an assist from Garcia, 58-37.
· An offensive rebound made by
Trinity Thompson, setting up a layup for herself with 6:44 left in the game.
· With 3:14 left in the game, Garcia made a swish from behind-the-arc with an assist from Rose. Within the next minute, Garcia got hot again and scored a layup.
· The Norse scored a total of 32 points in this half.
GAME NOTES
· Northern Kentucky shot 44 percent from the field (28-of-63), while Eastern Kentucky shot 37 percent (22-of-59) respectively.
· The Norse completed 9-of-22 (41 percent) from three-point range.
· Duvall continued her streak of scoring double figures, she is now at 21 games. This is her seventh 20-point performance as a Norse.
· Duvall finished with a double-double as well, pulling down 10 rebounds.

· The Norse will face head to the University of Green Bay for a Horizon League battle at the the Kress Center on Thursday, Nov. 18. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
