CONWAY, Ark. – The Northern Kentucky women's basketball team secured a come-from-behind overtime victory on the road Saturday afternoon against Central Arkansas, 63-59. The Norse improve to 4-2 overall on the year, while the Sugar Bears drop to 3-3 this season.
STATS LEADERS
·
Ivy Turner recorded a career-high 24 points in the winning effort at UCA. Turner also went 13-of-18 from the free throw line.
·
Lindsey Duvall finished in double-figures once again with 12 points. Duvall added seven rebounds to her stat line also.
·
Emmy Souder posted 11 total points and pulled down six rebounds in the win. Souder also tallied two steals in the contest.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
· The opening quarter of this nonconference bout saw both the Norse and Sugar Bears trading leads, as four overall occurred.
. Turner led NKU in scoring through the first period with five points.
· Quarter number two saw UCA pull away just a bit, but an 8-2 scoring run saw the Norse recapture the lead at 21-20. Duvall, Turner and Souder all contributed to the run as well.
· Central Arkansas went into the break leading the Norse by four points. The Bears out-shot NKU in the opening half from beyond the arc at 66.7 percent to Northern Kentucky's 0.0 percent.
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
· UCA opened the third quarter on a 4-0 run to push the lead out to 31-23, forcing an NKU timeout.
· Central Arkansas generated yet another run to extend its lead out to 46-36 late in the third period.
· NKU chipped away at the UCA advantage with a Turner three that cut the deficit to just 53-48 with 3:30 left in the game.
· The Norse posted a 9-2 run over 4:55 minutes in the fourth quarter.
· Northern Kentucky went three quarters without hitting a three-pointer until making 2-of-2 in the fourth period.
· Turner helped NKU fight back into this game, sinking a layup with 0:23 seconds remaining. This forced overtime with these two squads knotted up at 55-55.
OVERTIME SUMMARY
· NKU struck first in overtime as Duvall knocked down a jumper to give the Norse the 57-55 advantage.
· Turner helped seal the road victory for Northern Kentucky, as she drained four-consecutive free throws to give the Norse a 61-57 lead.
· Turner returned to the charity stripe with just 0:12 seconds remaining to knock down two additional free throws and NKU took the win at 63-59.
GAME NOTES
· Turner's previous career-high was 21 points which she scored on March 5, 2020 against Milwaukee.
· Turner also set a career-high for free throws made with 13. Her previous high of eight was recorded during the March 5, 2020 contest against Milwaukee as well.
· The Norse were aggressive in getting to the line today, going 19-of-27 in free throws, compared to Central Arkansas only shooting 10-of-16 from the line.
· Duvall kept her double-digit scoring streak alive while wearing a Norse uniform totaling 12 total points in today's game. Her streak of scoring in double-digits with NKU is up to 25 games.

· The Norse will return home for their next contest, as NKU hosts Horizon League adversary Cleveland State inside BB&T Arena. This conference game is slated for a 7 p.m. start as well.
