INDIANAPOLIS – 
The Northern Kentucky women's basketball team knocked off Horizon League preseason favorite IUPUI on the road Friday afternoon by a score of 54-53. The Norse improve to 9-3 this season, including 3-2 in conference play. The Jaguars fall to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the Horizon League.
 
STATS LEADERS 
  • Lindsey Duvall led the Norse in scoring today with 26 total points, shooting 9-for-19 from the field. Duvall also drained seven three-pointers. 
  • Ivy Turner posted 17 points in the contest, shooting 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Turner posted a team-high three assists as well. 
  • Grayson Rose anchored the defense with 10 total rebounds and added three blocks to her stat sheet. 

FIRST HALF SUMMARY
  • NKU tied up the game in the first quarter at 5-5 with a quick run from a Duvall three-pointer and an Emmy Souder put-back layup. 
  • Khamari Mitchell-Steen helped spark a quick Norse run, going coast-to-coast after a steal to put NKU up 12-9. 
  • Turner closed out the opening quarter draining a three-pointer at the buzzer to see the Norse lead IUPUI 15-9.
  • NKU stayed ahead of IUPUI throughout most of the second quarter, aided by strong free throw shooting, going 4-for-4. 
  • Both programs struggled shooting from the floor late in the second period however, going a combined 2-for-13 over two minutes. 
  • Turner finished the first half with 15 points, shooting 4-for-9 from the floor.
  • Duvall caught fire at the end of the second quarter as well, hitting back-to-back three's to see NKU up 30-27. 
     
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
  • IUPUI began the third quarter with a 6-0 run over five minutes to trail 30-29. 
  • Turner broke the scoring drought for NKU with a driving layup to increase the Norse advantage to 32-29. 
  • The Jaguars generated yet another 6-0 run late in the third quarter to close the gap to just 37-35. 
  • Trinity Thompson provided a huge block at the end of the third period to secure the Norse lead at 39-35.
  • Duvall caught fire in the fourth quarter, hitting multiple three's to push the Norse lead up to 48-39 with 5:42 left to play. 
  • IUPUI built a 7-0 scoring run late in the fourth period over the last 1:40 to cut the NKU lead to just 54-53.
  • A huge steal as time expired from Mitchell-Steen capped off the 54-53 road win for the Norse.

GAME NOTES
  • NKU defensively disrupted IUPUI's shooting today, as the Jaguars went just 4-for-17 (23.5%) from beyond the arc. 
  • Duvall's seven made three-pointers this afternoon was a career-high for the senior. 
  • Thompson finished the game with a career-high in blocks as the freshman tallied two overall. 
  • The last time the Norse posted five straight victories occurred in 2015 from Feb. 11 through March 11 (5 consecutive wins).

The Norse return home in their next matchup, hosting Robert Morris inside BB&T Arena. This Horizon League bout is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
