HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – For the second time in her career, Northern Kentucky's Anna Brinkmann has earned recognition by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as a member of the Northeast All-Region Honorable Mention Team. She was also a member of the 2019 all-region honorable mention team.

The native of Mason, Ohio, had a terrific senior season with averages of 3.57 kills, 3.14 digs, 0.57 blocks and 4.22 points per set in leading Northern Kentucky to a 20-8 overall record and No. 58 RPI. Brinkmann also had 16 double-doubles on the season en route to her third-straight All-Horizon League First Team nod.
 
Even more impressively is that Brinkmann's attacking numbers improved against the stiffer competition. In NKU's 10 matches versus AVCA top-100 programs, she registered 3.73 kills and 4.29 points per set. Against top-50 foes, Brinkmann contributed 4.00 kills and 4.29 points per set.
 
"Becoming our first two-time AVCA all-region honorable mention team honoree is quite an achievement and I am incredibly proud of Anna for all that she has accomplished thus far at NKU," said Liz Hart, head coach of the Norse. "This award is a testament to the commitment and hard work Anna puts in throughout the entire year - from extra strength and conditioning to technical training to ensuring her nutrition is appropriate. She is an excellent role model not only for the younger players in our program but also for the youth in our region."
 
Brinkmann was also honored this year on the Horizon League All-Academic Team as she sports a 3.63 GPA in social work.
 
Northern Kentucky finished both runner-up in the Horizon League regular-season and tournament, reaching the tournament championship match for the third time in the last four years and the semifinals of its conference tournament for the eighth-consecutive time.
